Like many of you, I love books and I love libraries. I would like to suggest that you not use this as your key theme to your career objectives statement � simply because everyone who doesn’t read this blog will use that theme, and therefore you’ll set yourself apart.

Also like many of you, I was an English major in college. I refer to it as the “everything and nothing” degree – great for picking up jobs that require a little bit of writing and editing, plus some reading tossed in – but I certainly didn’t coast out of college knowing exactly what I wanted to do with my life.

I actually came to Simmons because I wanted to be a librarian – or thought I did. I took one class, realized how HARD it is to know how to find the answer to everyone’s questions on a variety of topics at a moment’s notice, and decided to keep my day job. Thankfully I had admission experience, and GSLIS was hiring non-librarians. I’ve been the Assistant Director of Admissions since 2002. It’s a great place to work – with nice people who want to get things done. Can’t ask for more than that!
