The next lecture's slides are in VISTA. See you Friday.
We have a rich and full agenda tomorrow. While before I was kidding about podcasting lectures, I really am going to have to. Probably at the beginning of next week. It's tough for me to manage course content when we have such different things going on, but I think we are better served at the moment by getting the library done.
This is a time of semester (and project) when everyone gets a little tense and snarly, so please each of you, take a deep breath and think before you talk or e-mail or write to fellow classmates about logistical issues. We are all in this together (and doing great, by the way).
The PPT for tomorrow is in VISTA, along with the last (YAY) assignment and a few handouts that go with it (all attached in the same place as the assignment). I am going to focus on this PPT tomorrow, despite saying that I would finish the classification unit. I need to leave you with sufficient MARC and DC that you can work on Assignment 5 over the break, and we don't meet for two weeks after this. I will spend one of the last two days on all those interesting subject access things that I have been putting off, don't worry.
The biographies written by you and your classmates have been “published”. When you log in to VISTA, choose Assignments and choose the “Published” tab. I have created a new assignment in VISTA caled Bio Quiz - it's like a scavenger hunt through the bios. When you have completed your answers to the questions (with a file called “bioquiz-[username].doc/pdf), log back in to VISTA and upload your answers into the Bio Quiz assignment. This is a non-graded assignment - it counts in my "discretionary" points, like the wiki contributions. Due by December 15.
A deputized body of students (a substantial number) came to my office just now to ask for a small extension to Assignment 3. It is now due by Tuesday night at 9pm. I am sorry if this upsets those of you who have moved heaven and earth to have it done by deadline, but they made a reasonable argument, and I am a marshmallow. A creampuff. A jellyfish. An amoeba. I won't go on.
I created the VISTA space for it - sorry about the delay. Also, don't forget to be at BPL at 9:30 sharp tomorrow.
I am blogging the ASIST Conference on another Simmons blog - Dispatches from the field, and putting pictures on the flickr site for Simmons ASIST, in the ASIST 2006 set.
Yadda yadda - you know the drill. In VISTA.
