Library Director, Townsend Public Library, Townsend, MA
QUAL: The ideal candidate will possess an MLS degree with at least 5 years library experience and will possess strong management skills in both leadership and budget/fiscal management, have excellent communication skills and experience in public relations and community outreach.
DUTIES: The library director oversees all day to day operations of the library, prepares staff schedules, reports, financial statements, annual budgets, oversees the librarys technological maintenance and advancement, acts as head reference librarian, assists all library programming but is responsible for creating, advertising and implementing programming specifically for adults.
The library director will join a dedicated library staff of seven who are supported by 50 active volunteers. Team morale and overall competence among the staff is a critical piece of our current success.
Programming has expanded rapidly with the new library, particularly in the childrens room, and the creativity shown by the current staff is responsible for much of it. Town response to our new programming is gratifying. The new director must be able to diplomatically join this team as well as lead it.
SALARY: $23.18 an hour for 32 hours per week with a full benefits package
