Full Salary Range $4416 – $6070, plus benefits, 40 hours/week

The Branch Circulation Supervisor performs circulation and related public services to provide for effective and efficient service to customers. This position may include morning, afternoon, evening, and weekends including Sundays. Successful candidate may be required to adapt to future schedule and location changes depending on library needs.

- Supervises assigned circulation and Page staff to assure optimum service levels.
- Interview, select and train staff; provide coaching and continue training to enhance circulation services.
- Perform circulation tasks such as charging and issuing materials to customers; receiving, processing and returning materials to appropriate locations; recommends and develops procedures and improvements.
- Serves as part of building management team, planning and problem-solving service issues; act as person in charge by responding to building and customer issues in the absence of the Managing Librarian.
- Participates in opening and closing the building and may initiate request for repairs or maintenance when facility or equipment problems arise.
- Receive and account for cash from fees and copier charges.
Requires competent knowledge of an integrated library computer system; the librarys system for shelving and locating materials; organization and management of materials; Library District policies and procedures; principles of supervision of the work of others.

Requires the ability to supervise the work of others in a manner that enhances their performance and assures quality public service; excellent organizational abilities; write, speak and understand English clearly and concisely; and maintain favorable interpersonal relations with the public and co-workers. The ability to speak and understand Spanish is desirable.
Requires the ability to select, train and supervise staff to assure quality public service and work cooperatively with others. This position supervises the work of Public Service Assistant and Page staff and performs the same work as staff on a regular basis.

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of experience, training and education that provides the required skills and knowledge equivalent to four years’ experience in related public service work, some of which must have been in a library. Supervisory or lead person experience is required.
