The Salzburg Global Seminar is an institution focused on global change a place where innovative ideas lead to practical solutions. Each year, more than 1,000 professionals from over 100 countries gather at the Seminar’s impressive rococo palace at Schloss Leopoldskron for discussions on political, social, and cultural issues of universal concern (http://www.salzburgglobal.org/).

As part of its educational program, the Salzburg Global Seminar offers a three-month, non-accredited internship program. In preparation for the off-site storage of its institutional textual records, the intern will be responsible for the selection and digitization of historic documents dating from the seminar’s inception in 1947 until circa 1995, when born digital documents became standard for the seminar. The intern will also perform normal library duties such as: maintaining the periodicals department, cataloging acquisitions, general collections maintenance, and assisting with session preparation including the creation of bibliographies and recommending book purchases.

To qualify, candidates should be in or have just graduated from a library science program with a concentration in archives management. Suitable candidates should have some experience working in a library, knowledge of current archives practices, the ability to work with a wide range of people, self-motivation, computer knowledge, and interest in the Seminar’s program. Due to visa and work permit regulations in Austria, qualified applicants are limited to citizens from the United States or the European Union.
