Part-time GSLIS SSC Student Assistant, Simmons College, Boston, MA
The Student Assistant for the Student Services Center (SSC) plays a critical role in providing outstanding customer service to GSLIS students, faculty, and staff.
Duties include: staffing the SSC desk (answering student/ faculty/questions and comments in person, by phone and via email); filing, data entry, and special projects as assigned. This position will additionally provide clerical/administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Student Services. The Student Assistant plays a significant role in the support of and preparation for “Advising Day”, an event held in November, April, and in July. Interested applicants should be aware of the need for additional work hours during these times.
Qualifications: applicants must be a GSLIS graduate student with at least one semester of completed coursework. Additionally, students must have strong organizational and communication skills, along with demonstrated customer service experience. Intermediate skill level in Excel and Word are strongly recommended; experience with mail merges and database management is highly desirable. Previous work experience in an office and/or a in higher education setting is highly desirable.
The Student Assistant routinely works with confidential and sensitive student records and therefore, must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement upon hire.
