Middle School Librarian/Technology Coordinator, Thayer Academy, Braintree, MA
Thayer Academy, an independent, co-ed, 6-12 college preparatory school, is seeking a librarian/technology coordinator for its Middle School Library Resource Center.
The librarian/technology coordinator teaches a 6th grade technology and research skills class and serves as an advisor and a club sponsor. Coaching is not a requirement but is welcomed and encouraged. The librarian/technology coordinator collaborates with classroom teachers on a variety of classroom projects in all disciplines. He/she is also responsible for developing the Middle School print and e-book collection, maintaining the Middle School library website, coordinating the visiting author program, and managing the annual book fair. As Middle School Academic Technology Coordinator, the successful candidate will work closely with faculty to integrate technology into the curriculum, support faculty use of a variety of applications, introduce new technology to the Middle School, and serve on the Academic Technology Committee.
This is full-time faculty position; the librarian/technology coordinator is also a Middle School Department Head.
Thayer Academy is an active member of the Cooperative Library Association of Greater Boston, which provides an extensive network of colleagues in the field. Qualifications: A successful candidate should have a Masters in Library Science and be familiar with information literacy skills, technology integration, library automation systems, and database searching. Experience with middle school students is preferred, as is experience in an independent school.
