QUALIFICATIONS: Job description available here: http://www.williston.lib.vt.us/ Hours include one evening per week and one Saturday per month. A Bachelor’s degree with an MLS from an ALA accredited school or a Vermont Department of Libraries Certification, or actively working toward one preferred; a thorough knowledge of library cataloging and procedures including library automation and MARC databases; excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform detailed work; good communication skills and good interpersonal skills with people of all ages; previous library experience preferred but not required.
DUTIES: Assisting patrons with circulation and reference before other duties; Responsibility for all technical processing including cataloging and processing of all new, donated, and withdrawn materials; Acquiring and maintaining MARC records in the online database; Updating status statement on computer for all material needing mending; Coordinating bi-weekly library column in local paper– writing about new titles and emailing to newspaper on a timely basis; Recording, typing, and distributing staff meeting minutes; Assisting with inventory, weeding, and organization of the library collection; Processing inter-library loan requests in absence of ILL staff person; Assisting with IT, reference and services to patrons; Assuming additional duties as required.
SALARY: Starting $16.00 to $20.00 per hour. 25 hours per week. Benefits include paid holidays, vacation, sick and personal time, retirement plan, and eligibility to apply for continuing education reimbursement.
