The Utah State University Libraries seek a creative, energetic librarian to join the Reference & Instructional Services Department in the Merrill-Cazier Library to perform reference, instruction, and collection development duties. The position is a 12-month, tenure-track, faculty appointment with rank of assistant librarian, reporting to the Head of Reference Services.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities in this position are to provide reference service and library instruction, with emphasis on English composition and specialized instruction for liaison departments. The library contributes to information literacy initiatives by collaborating with colleagues to develop teaching strategies, assessment methods, and Web-based instructional tools. Reference service involves working with students and faculty in a wide range of subjects, including evening and weekend reference desk shifts and individual consultations. The librarian serves as a subject librarian in one or more academic disciplines. Liaison duties include purchasing materials within an allocated budget, working with faculty to develop course-integrated instruction, and providing research support. The librarian plays a role in overall library functions, serves on library and university committees, and pursues professional and scholarly endeavors related to the position.

Qualifications
Required qualifications: ALA accredited MLS degree; excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective interpersonal skills; knowledge of emerging technologies for access to information resources; strong public service orientation; and demonstrated ability to meet the university’s requirements for promotion and tenure. Preferred qualifications: reference and collection development experience in an academic library; course work or experience with information literacy instruction, familiarity with instructional design or online learning.

Salary and Benefits

The Center for Puerto Rican Studies (Centro) is a research center dedicated to the study and interpretation of the Puerto Rican experience in the United States. Centro is the primary repository of archival and library materials dedicated to stateside Puerto Ricans. Centro is committed to facilitating research projects useful to those in community organizations, public policy, and academia.

The Library Archivist will be primarily assigned to oversee digitization projects, for example, s/he will be assigned to oversee the recently created Oral History Project and the collection of primary data that complements existing and new archival collections. S/he will also be in charge of organizing the hundreds of existing oral histories and to make all this content available to researchers including the development of descriptive guides, the analysis of content and publication of findings in academic outlets, the development of digital products and the application of preservation standards to these collections. S/he will also oversee special projects combining primary and secondary data thematically where archival collections would be contextualized and made available to specialists and the general public.

Specifically, duties include:
- Writes summaries of oral histories and oversees process to transcribe and add metadata to files and make them available to the public.
- Manages digitization projects and special collections that combine primary and secondary sources.
- Oversees the acquisition and processing of organizational records and personal papers donated to the Centro Library and Archives.
- Authors appraisals and description of materials.
- Assists in weeding, inventorying and in the preservation of new collections.
- Assists the Library Director in outreach efforts and donor relations.
- Supervises and trains college assistants and work-study students for archival projects.
- Works collaboratively with staff in a team environment on a variety of projects.
- Participates in staff and CUNY-wide committees.

STUDENT RESEARCH ASSISTANT NEEDED FOR REFERENCE SEARCH

School of Management Professor and Entrepreneurship Program Director Dr. Teresa Nelson is building a database of online access/resources pertaining to women’s high-growth entrepreneurship. A preliminary collection of articles, reports, and other sources have already been assembled and are being delivered in beta fashion at whge.simmons.edu. Now, in the second stage of the project, we are looking for a student experienced in reference search to add to the database via previously identified categories. You will also help expand the collection to different types of references, such as videos. You should be well versed in archival databases like ABI Inform and Google Scholar. Additional training will be provided. We are looking for someone who has at least 80 hours to give ($20/hour) spring semester 2013.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Bunker Hill Community College Library and Learning Commons seeks applicants for a part-time Friday night, Saturday and Sunday Librarian.

This position requires a commitment to work weekends, weekday evenings and some weekday daytime hours. You would provide library research instruction, reference and research assistance in navigating the physical and online aspects of the BHCC Library & Learning Commons. The position reports to the Director of the Library and Learning Commons, who may assign additional responsibilities as needed.

The applicant will be expected to:
• Provide learning, reference, and research assistance to students, faculty and other library patrons in locating information related to class assignments, research and general interest using both print and online library and information resources;
• Provide an overview of Library services, technology, and programs to the BHCC community;
• Assist patrons in using Library services and equipment;
• Assist in designing and delivering interactive instruction materials to support BHCC’s Research program – update and create research guides (both online and print);
• Provide instruction during library workshops, promote effective use and evaluation of library resources, materials and tools through workshop assignments, digital library guides, and assessment;
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant College and department curriculum initiatives, in order to keep library and research instruction consistent with College curriculum.
• Assist with collection development, circulation, and other aspects of library operations as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
ALA accredited MLS or MLIS degree, with a strong interest in designing and developing interactive library instruction materials. Previous experience in teaching library instruction to diverse students and different kinds of learners is necessary. Internship, or practicum in an academic library, preferably the community college setting, is strongly preferred; also supervising library staff including student workers is strongly preferred.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with library technology including library management systems (e.g. iii, Evergreen), online databases, and LibGuides. Useful technology would be experience with online eLearning technologies such as Moodle.
• Ability and desire to relate to and work well with a diverse student, faculty, staff, and
community population;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Able to learn quickly and take initiative;

COMPENSATION: $23.99/hour for 18.5 hrs per week.

Internship, Wellesley College Archives, Wellesley MA

The Wellesley College Archives is seeking applicants for a four month unpaid internship (approximately 160 hours).

The intern will work to develop the archives’ internal website for academic and administrative departments at Wellesley College. The core project will involve the development of a submission tool/online transfer form to streamline the accessioning process by allowing for record creator generated information and inventories. The workflow will also allow for automated batch uploads of accession information to Archivists’ Toolkit.The intern will be using google forms and spreadsheets and will be working primarily with analog records transfers.

Work will also involve the re-working of agreement forms and policies and procedures, as well as training documentation.

Applicants should have completed some archival courses on the graduate level. Must be able to lift boxes of 30 pounds or more. No experience with Archivists’ Toolkit is necessary. Comfort with learning new technologies is a must. Individuals with extreme dust allergies may find the environment difficult to work in.
