ABOUT THE JOB: The Data Loading Specialist is a self-motivated responsible monitoring, implementing, and maintaining CCC’s Rightsholder metadata.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support CCC’s inventory expansion goals by efficiently analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving bibliographic metadata issues related to incoming data feeds.
  • Daily resolution of Works Access Manager Link rule failures with a focus on providing efficient technical solutions to prevent future problems.
  • Work closely with the Data Systems group and IT on data related system development and implementation projects, playing a key role in representing Data Operations in the area of ongoing metadata file loading.
  • Load works inventory for rights assignment.  Additional tasks include agreement processing, account maintenance, rights and pricing information.
  • Partner a variety of personnel, including software developers and content specialists to resolve technical problems.  Test and provide feedback on internal applications and customer-facing products.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in the area of bibliographic metadata and the loading process.
  • Suggest potential improvements to departmental policies and procedures by identifying and elevating trends and opportunities.
  • Maintain training documentation and manuals.  Train other staff members as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Demonstrated knowledge of XML and/or SGML DTD/Schemas
  • Experience with HTML, XHTML, and CSS
  • Working knowledge of XML and XML editing
  • Capable of implementing or changing workflows
  • Experience with electronic image formats, such as PDF, TIFF, GIF, JPEG, PNG

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years of experience in a publishing or library science environment
  • Experience with electronic journal and/or book publications

The Office of Communications, Public Relations & Marketing (C/PR&M) at The Fletcher School at Tufts University, Medford Campus, has an immediate opening for a temporary full-time professional to assist in the editing and upkeep of its faculty publications database.

The ideal candidate will have some library experience or has worked with academic literature. He or she will be familiar with cataloguing a wide range of publications such as journal articles, book chapters, books, working papers, conference presentations, op-eds and video.

Required qualifications include:
Relevant bachelor’s degree required. Completion of one or more graduate level cataloguing courses is desirable.
• Excellent proofreading and data entry skills. Very high attention to detail.
• Technical savvy and the ability to master quickly Fletcher’s custom data management tool.

Start date: immediately
Pay rate: negotiable, hourly
Hours/week: up to 35, between 9:30 am to 5:30 pm in our Medford office
Term: 3 – 6 weeks or until completion of project

• Protects and enhances the image of The Fletcher School through strategic communications with The Fletcher School’s stakeholders: potential students and donors, current students and donors, faculty and staff, alumni and its geographic-specific groups, community and business leaders, and the media.
• Maintains a comprehensive and current external audience-facing digital representation of the School, including a Web presence (fletcher.tufts.edu), social media and photo archive.
• Provides public relations, marketing, branding and advertising counseling and services to more than 20 internal client constituencies including the Dean, academic offices and programs, and senior administrators, among others.
• Acts as the manager of brand continuity within The Fletcher School to ensure the proper use of approved institutional logos, color schemes, graphics, text style as well as the proper representation of the Fletcher brand during School events.

Hours: Approximately 10 hrs/week during the 2011 spring semester and 40 hrs/week during the summer (720 hours in total between 1/1/2011 and 9/1/2011)

Description: The National Park Service Northeast Temperate Network (NETN) is seeking to hire an undergraduate or graduate student through the NPS Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) to perform data entry related to the NETN’s ongoing natural resource inventory and monitoring activities. Primary duties would include:

1. Scanning hard-copy natural resource reports
2. Creating bibliographic entries for reports in an NPS national reference database
3. Uploading digital copies of the reports for these references

Previous experience with Adobe Acrobat and data entry are helpful but not required. Work hours and location are flexible.

The Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) is a nonprofit consortium of efficiency program administrators from across the U.S. and Canada who work together on common approaches to advancing efficiency.  By working together at CEE, program administrators leverage the effect of their funding dollars, exchange information on effective practices and, by doing so, achieve greater energy efficiency for the public good.
CEE is seeking applications for a temporary appointment as Data Entry Specialist.  Reporting to a project manager / director, this individual will help create a new electronic library to provide a central location for CEE members to access documents.  The data entry specialist will coordinate with CEE staff to add high priority documents to the library.  The data entry specialist will use a custom web-based application to enter select metadata such as title, dates, authors, relevant organizations, and top level topics to help manage the online data conversion process.

Requirements

  • Skills & interests: Strong attention to detail and very good organizational and communication skills.  Experience using MS Office software (Excel, Word, Internet Explorer).   Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently.  Interest in energy efficiency is a plus.
  • Availability: Work flexibly 10-40 hours per week during office hours for 2-6 weeks starting immediately.

Location:  The office is located near North Station, easily accessible by T and commuter rail.
Pay:  Hourly, commensurate with experience.
