The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a dynamic, innovative, and team-oriented librarian to serve as leader of the E-Resources & Serials Acquisitions Section within the E Resources & Serials Management Department.

Staff in E-Resources & Serials Management work together as a collaborative, service-oriented team that strives to ensure that students, faculty, and staff have easy access to a broad range of research publications provided through the University Library. Under the general direction of the department head, the E-Resources & Serials Acquisitions Librarian leads the section responsible for the acquisition and management of electronic resources and print serials. In support of the teaching and research mission of the University, the individual in this position works collaboratively with Library colleagues and with publisher and vendor representatives.

The E-Resources & Serials Acquisitions Librarian provides leadership in the acquisition, maintenance, and support of electronic resources and print serials offered by the University Library, and participates in policy development regarding e-resources and serials in support of University Library priorities. The E Resources & Serials Acquisitions Librarian supervises the E Resources Librarian, who leads the licensing team, as well as five staff members whose primary assignments involve the acquisition, implementation, and front-line service of electronic resources and print serials. The Librarian is responsible for: reviewing workflows for efficiency and effectiveness; coordinating the documentation of section procedures; conducting license negotiations with information providers as a member of the University Library licensing team; serving as liaison to vendors and other Library departments regarding issues and questions related to the acquisition and receipt of e-resources and print serials; developing and maintaining an understanding of issues related to e resources and serials, contributing to the professional dialogue and a wide variety of pertinent Library initiatives. Additionally, the E-Resources & Serials Acquisitions Librarian serves on relevant Library committees and task forces and may represent the Library with consortial organizations.

Qualifications

Required:
ALA accredited master’s degree in library or information science. Three or more years of related experience in an academic library. Demonstrated experience with issues and practices involved in the acquisition and maintenance of print serials and e-resource collections. Supervisory experience. Proficiency in creating and manipulating spreadsheets. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Effective organization and time management skills. The ability to work well within a team environment and with diverse groups of library staff. Strong commitment to customer service. Enthusiasm for an innovative and evolving work environment.

Preferred:
Experience using library management and electronic resources systems such as Innovative Interfaces’ Millennium system and Serials Solutions 360 products. Supervisory experience relating to acquisitions or other technical services operations. Project management skills. Understanding of business and licensing models and their budget implications, and the ability to clearly communicate that understanding. Experience with relational database programs. Involvement in professional development activities, including research and participation in professional organizations. Track record of professional involvement in e-resources and/or serials.

Ep’s NetLibrary Editorial team is currently seeking a Manager of Content Integration – Ebooks. The principal focus of this position is to manage all aspects of the team responsible for the content production of eBook and eAudioBook data for EBSCO Publishing’s NetLibrary product. This position is responsible for both a long-term strategic focus and day-to-day operations management.

-Oversee daily book production operation to ensure that capacity needs are being met and that high quality ebook and audio book content is being delivered to customers.
-Partner with EPÂ’s Technology teams to re-architect Content Integration systems and workflow, including implementation of ONIX and EPUB support.
-Collaborate with Product Management, Publisher Relations, and Technology to identify and execute strategic business initiatives. This may include supporting new product features, new data formats, and focused data loading (e.g. loading backlist data for a specific publisher).
-Communicate directly with Publishers on an ongoing basis to address questions and resolve eBook and eAudioBook service issues.
-Understand publisherÂ’s book creation and metadata creation processes to coordinate publisher integration into EBSCO Publishing workflow and systems.
-Review, recommend, and implement new methods and technologies to make content integration production operations more efficient.
-Provide management, guidance, and coaching to Supervisor and 3-4 Senior team members.
-Develop and maintain departmental budget to track all costs and expenditures.

Essential Functions:

The Content Management Support Specialist is responsible for providing literature searches, reference assistance, and management of electronic content, including online subscriptions and access maintenance. This position will be located at our client in Kenilworth, NJ or anywhere in the US and will report to our Library Services Manager.

Primary Responsibilities
· Update, categorize and maintain content for the Digital Library
· Provide reference assistance and training/awareness on resources and services
· Conduct literature searches as needed, and setup and monitor ad-hoc literature alerts
· Monitor and respond to emails and phone calls reporting electronic access problems, both for end users and staff.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for operational-level management of the ESG Acquisitions unit:
    • Hires, trains, supervises, and manages performance for full- and part-time support staff
    • Assigns tasks, plans, directs, and monitors workflows; documents policies, procedures, and guidelines; monitors productivity and quality standards for the ESG unit
    • Monitors budget, maintains statistics, and prepares reports; assesses the data against unit production goals and for trends in budget projections
    • As a member of the ESG management team, participates in developing and implementing policies, procedures, workflows and services of the Unit, in consultation with the Head of ESG and the E-Resources Management Librarian
    • Contributes to unit operational priorities by performing all aspects of the unit’s activities
    • Works closely with the E-Resources, Serials & Government Documents Cataloging unit, other HCLTS units, and other departments (Financial Services, Collection Development, Access Services/Materials Transfer, Binding and Shelf Preparation, Government Documents, Area Studies, HUL Office for Information Systems), contributing information used to solve problems or implement new procedures or technologies
    • Ensures accurate problem resolution for complex order, receipt and payment discrepancies , ensures that technical and service expectations are understood, and performs quality control
    • Ensures positive contact with vendors and publishers
    • Ensures effective timely, efficient, and quality service to patrons by participating in thorough evaluation of current procedures
    • Collects and reports data concerning Unit activity
    • Creates training materials and documentation for staff in the unit, oversees the training of staff and evaluates staff competencies
    • Contributes to unit goals by accomplishing related duties as required
    • Performs duties with professionalism, which includes relating to others in group settings and individually in a courteous, cooperative, sensitive, and collegial manner
