This is professional library work with responsibility for planning, coordinating, and serving as a consultant for public library systems in the state or providing specialized services throughout the state directly to public library systems. The candidate will provide consultative services to administrators, staff, library boards of trustees, state, city and county officials, civic leaders and groups, and other interested groups. The candidate will need to utilize professional knowledge and judgment in solving complex problems. Duties are performed in accordance with professional library practices and techniques, and in conformance with governmental directives. Internship Description
The Research Library at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is
offering a paid summer internship for graduate level library or information science students. The
Research Library offers a full array of desktop and customized library services to staff members
at the Board and assists in data intensive and Internet dependent Board Research.
The Research Library intern will help investigate the creation of video snippets and
voice-over PowerPoint presentations to provide point-of-need training on library services and
resources. The intern may also be involved in other library projects, including a mobile news
page, training programs for digital newspapers, and the continued enhancement of our Electronic
Resources Management system.

The internship is located in Washington, D.C. and lasts ten to twelve weeks. Students
enrolled in a Master’s degree program in library or information science at an ALA-accredited
institution are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a knowledge of and interest in
technology, metadata, and business research. Knowledge of economics, banking, finance, or
business topics is highly desirable. This is a paid internship.

Job Responsibilities:
Directs the planning, analysis, design, development, implementation and operation of all State Library information technology products and services, including telecommunications, data processing systems, databases, integrated library systems, internal hardware and software and technology-based programs. This position is responsible for the technology needs of the SCLENDS consortium as defined in the individual job functions below.

1. Directs the planning, development, implementation and modification of telecommunications, data processing systems, information systems and applications for the State Library. Directs the development, coordination and maintenance of the agency’s information resource management activities and programs.

2. Directs the activities of systems analysts, programmers and information resources professionals.

3. Develops, maintains and supports the SCLENDS consortium Wide Area Network (WAN) and servers using independent judgment and initiative within the framework of established policies. Assists multiple library systems and their Information Technology staff with a wide variety of computer, server, operating systems, Integrated Library System (ILS) software and networking hardware. Manages a comprehensive Evergreen (open source software) online help desk and responds to help desk issues in a timely manner.

5. Directs the preparation of reports for management and users. Conducts comprehensive studies and analyses of current systems, functions and operations. Monitors compliance with state IT guidelines and policies.

6. Guides the Agency technology budget development and coordinates expenditures. Manages program budget and personnel; establishes long-term funding commitments. Participates in the agency’s strategic planning efforts by leading efforts to develop and apply technology solutions to support the agency’s mission. Plans for agency technology improvements, guides agency technology planning and maintenance of all technology systems. Develops and implements annual and long range planning and goal setting. Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A MLS, MLIS, or MSIS, or a degree in technology and 5-7 years experience in a library information technology setting. Experience in information technology, telecommunications, data processing and open source solutions. Ability to plan and supervise the implementation of short and long-range data processing and telecommunications activities and objectives. Ability to plan, organize, direct and review the work of technical personnel. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with users, technical staff, management, vendors and others.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of the principles of librarianship, library automation, and integrated library systems. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of planning programs and work activities in a data processing or telecommunications environment.

The Technology Specialist reports to the Manager of Desktop Support for information technology
(IT) functions, and to the Circuit Librarian for Library functions, and performs technical services for

support activities in chambers and all court units of the circuit court (local and remote locations in
Alabama, Florida, and Georgia). The position will provide help desk, technical, and end user
support and for performing all automation support services necessary to assist local end users in the

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Test and evaluate software based on the Library’s and
court’s needs and goals. Assist with providing support and training in basic software applications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors Degree with at least one year of library
experience preferred and a minimum of two years experience troubleshooting, repair and
installation of automation hardware and software; familiarity with online research (including Lexis,
Westlaw and the Internet) and familiarity with both print and electronic resources; familiarity with
instructional technology, general knowledge of library systems, current trends, and emerging
technologies; ability to troubleshoot and come up with creative solutions; excellent organizational,

This position is located in the Library of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut, a four year, accredited, degree granting institution and center of leadership development for the Coast Guard. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

9) Provides instruction in research techniques to all faculty, staff and students at the Academy and LDC, as one of the Academic DivisionÂ’s proponents for Information Literacy. Provides instruction to faculty in the value and utilization of information retrieval and evaluation skills in the life-long learning process and provides instruction to them in the best ways of integrating this outcome into their course work.
10) Serves on Library and Academy committees as appropriate.

The Supervisory Librarian serves as the Coordinator of Library Services for the VA New England Health Care System (VANEHS) which is affiliated with twenty New England area medical, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health services schools. The incumbent serves as Library/Knowledge Manager directing, supervising and managing the operational and strategic development of the Library/Knowledge Service within the eight VANEHS facilities. The Library/Knowledge Service informs evidence-based patient care by assisting all VANEHS health care professionals and allied professions to effectively and successfully access evidence-based healthcare resources with skill and competence. This department develops and supports the education, training and continuing professional development of all health care personnel employed by the VA New England Healthcare System organization.

Duties include but are not limited to: Develop and maintain knowledge-based systems and sources; collaborate with the VA Library Network Office (LNO) to continuously improve health care decision making by the delivery of information to users at the point of need and care; oversee the daily operation of the units; ensure that agency policies and priorities are followed; develop performance standards; evaluate work performance of subordinates; produce, select and/or organize decision support related knowledge-based content on the organization’s intranet and internet web pages. The incumbent will also develop effective and efficient instruction interventions (one on one, small group, webinars, embedded podcasts, video instructional programs, etc.) in information literacy and web-based resources appropriate to users’ needs including but not limited to: nursing, house staffs, students, clinicians, and management as well as recruit, select, train and manage a team of Librarians or Information Specialists.
