Ropes & Gray, a leading global law firm, is seeking a Senior KM Content Coordinator to join the Knowledge Management group’s Content Management and Support team. The team is responsible for the management and support of the firm’s intranet and extranet sites, portal applications, key business tools, and workspace requests and issues. This position works directly with site owners, content managers and content contributors for web sites on the firm’s intranet and extranet sites to gather requirements for the development of new sites, revisions and enhancements to existing sites, and for all related content, information and site management training and support. The position also works with advising content managers on best practices for applying metadata and for integrating content from the firm’s document management and other systems, and is involved in other KM projects. Responsibilities include:

Desired Qualifications:

Mason Library at Keene State College is seeking applications for Head of Library Systems & Emerging Technologies Librarian. This position has all responsibilities associated with faculty rank and tenure. Under the administrative review of the Dean of the Library, the Head of Library Systems & Emerging Technologies Librarian leads the evaluation and implementation of new technological services, and is responsible for the creation of policies and procedures in support of library systems and technologies. This librarian has responsibility for the maintenance of turnkey library systems operations, supervises staff, is the library’s webmaster, serves as liaison to vendors, and collaborates with campus and off campus constituencies. All library faculty serve as liaison to a number of disciplines, provides information literacy instruction, and monitors collection development in those areas.

Qualifications Required: ALA accredited Master’s Degree in library science. Demonstrated experience administering and working with library automated systems software and operations, knowledge of academic library operations and service requirements. The successful candidate will have proven organizational, problem solving, negotiating, interpersonal and communication skills, experience in teaching and/or library instruction and a commitment to the ideals of information literacy and the ability to work both independently and collegially in a rapidly changing environment.

Desirable: Undergraduate degree in a field supportive of library systems work, familiarity with local area networks, software applications, print management, Web formats including Web 2.0, Innovative Interfaces library software, ILLIAD, ContentDM, and MARC formats. Demonstrated ability to work in a mixed hardware/software environment, and supervisory and leadership experience. Additional advanced subject area degree or Library Systems educational experiences, evidence of professional involvement, and academic library experience. This is a tenure track faculty position and will be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor with a starting salary of $61,720.

Paul Smith’s College is located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Even though we’re small, we strive to do great things and offer excellent service to our patrons. We have a great opportunity for a creative, innovative, and knowledgeable student or recent MLS graduate. The selected candidate will have focused training responsibilities involved with Systems Librarian duties and have the opportunity to learn the aspects of academic librarianship in a small college setting. While extensive technical knowledge isn’t necessary, the ideal candidate should already be familiar with library technologies, have a strong propensity to learn new technology, solve technical problems without assistance, and be able to apply technology in a library setting. The candidate should also be a friendly, sociable person who is as comfortable standing in front of the classroom teaching an instruction session as helping patrons with reference questions. So, in short, we’re looking for someone who wants to combine a technology experience with a willingness and excitement to work with our campus and a great team of library staff. We recently applied for a hardware grant for touch screen room reservation screens and a large public touchscreen kiosk. If the hardware grant is successful:
- Implement a touch screen interface for a public Kiosk (similar to NCSU – for context, see here: http://journal.code4lib.org/articles/5832)
- Develop a room reservation system for group study rooms that interact with hardware screens
- Develop a shelf browsing module in our VuFind OPAC.
- Create a location aware mobile app for Android or iPhone that provides users with useful services.

Requirements:
1. Working towards an MLS degree from an ALA-accredited library school.
2. A high degree of technical competency and\or a strong propensity to be able to learn new skills necessary to solve technical problems on your own.
3. Some experience with PHP, Python, Javascript, CSS\HTML required.
4. Some experience with MYSQL or other similar relational database software.
5. Knowledge of SIRSIDynix Symphony integrated library system preferred.
6. Experience designing and writing software using the above languages preferred.
7. Interest in working with patrons in one-on-one and group situations.
8. Strong personal service philosophy and solid interpersonal and communication skills.
9. Desire to the share varied workload of a small college in a team atmosphere.

Position Summary
This position provides leadership, vision, and expertise related to library systems, technologies, software, and hardware that increase and enhance access to academic resources at UW-Whitewater. The individual in this position identifies, evaluates, coordinates, and teaches the use of technologies to library staff. S/he resolves problems, proposes new and better ways of using technology and, by collaborating with and by offering substantive training to library staff, thereby empowers them in performing their own functions. The individual represents the Library in technology issues on campus and within the UW System. This position also performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the Library’s Systems/Technology Coordinator as detailed below:
1. Manage, plan, and administer the integrated library system. Includes liaison work with library staff, remote server administrators, integrated library system vendor; deployment and support for associated hardware and desktop client software for library staff.
2. Advise and consult with library staff to maximize effective use of technology; provide regular and on-demand training; seek to make library staff independent and proficient users of technology.
3. Create reports and extract management data from library software as needed by library staff; assist colleagues in designing and running reports for their own needs; provide statistical reports as requested.
4. Collaborate with colleagues in investigating, evaluating, recommending, and implementing technologies to improve service and optimize the information technology resources.
5. Understand the functional, operational, and service needs of the Library in order to develop gateways between the LibraryÂ’s online resources and locally developed or third party application.
6. Be responsible for installing and maintaining library software, including communication with software vendors.
7. Develop training and documentation to share with library staff.
8. Create new applications and adapt existing systems to meet Library needs.
9. Serve as the primary liaison to campus technology service units, UW System library committees, and participate in statewide discussions and decisions impacting the UW System libraries.
10. Maintain a working knowledge of metadata schemes appropriate for digital information.
11. Manage and support, in collaboration with library and/or campus technology units, the LibraryÂ’s population of desktop, laptop, and handheld computing devices and related technologies, including all staff computers, public computers, and printers.
12. Serve on library committees, task forces, UW System, and professional committees as elected or appointed.
13. Work with campus colleagues on issues related to development of an institutional digital repository.
14. Perform administrative duties, such as automation budget oversight and student supervision.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent; understanding of library data encoding standards (e.g. MARC21, AACR2, RDA etc.,); relevant professional experience in management and maintenance or integrated library system; experience with technical support for library electronic information resources; successful participation in web and systems projects; knowledge of scripting languages necessary to Voyager & other library software (e.g. PHP, SQL, Java, C/C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.); experience with relational database queries and presentations in UNIX and Windows environments; knowledge of library web design and scripting languages; ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems; commitment to professional development; excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the commitment to work as part of a team; demonstrated success in working with diverse populations; commitment to public service; desire and ability to instruct others in new technologies; interest in empowering colleagues with technology.
