Hello everyone,
This week's posting will be short: just a few words about myself (only fitting, since you'll probably be receiving messages from me from now on - might as well know who's clogging your Inbox with messages) and a few words on the upcoming GSLISCE workshops.
Cheers,
Adrian Mitescu
LISSA President

Kudos and greetings
First off, many thanks to Cheryl for all her efforts for LISSA and making my transition to this job so much easier.
Secondly, I just wanted to say a few words about myself and some of the things that we (that is, the new LISSA team) would like to see implemented.
I am currently an international student at GSLIS, about halfway through completing my degree. I was born in Romania about 30 years ago, but I have lived extensively in US and Canada (I am also a Canadian citizen). I am currently working on campus, at the Reference Desk at Beatley and at the CRL.
Now, to more important things - some of our ideas for the benefit of the GSLIS student community:
- we would like to establish an award for "The most outstanding GSLIS student" (or something similar - we are open to suggestions) - which will be an award "by the students, for the students" - implemented started this Fall.
- we will institute a "standing appointment" every week in the GSLIS Lounge - which will be yet another way that you can get in touch with your friendly LISSA officers and air any suggestions, grievances or questions.
- we will continue to work with other student groups to bring exciting speakers to GSLIS
We have more things planned out, and more exciting things will be announced throughout the summer!
Now, back to my regularly scheduled refreshing lemonade ...
