On Feb. 23rd, in a closely contested bowling match the GSLIS-West team lost to the UMass’ Red Stryke. Both teams played hard and had a great time. Thank you to everyone who participated and we look forward to winning back our trophy later this spring. More information to follow on the rematch….

GSLIS-West will take on GSLIS_Boston in the first ever statewide GSLIS bowling championship. On November 3rd GSLIS-West and GSLIS-Boston will meet at Auburn Lanes to compete for bragging rights for best bowling librarians. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend, participate and have a good time. It’s also a great opportunity to meet your fellow colleagues from the Boston program. Many of you have probably already heard of GSLIS-West’s victory over the UMass archivist on September 22nd. If there is any doubt, please see the attached photos below. (Yes, that is now the Western MA regional bass/bowling trophy)
Bowling at Grandstands/Northampton Bowl is quite an experience. For those of you who have never been, somehow they managed to merge the bowling experience with karaoke and disco. Our white GSLIS bowling shirts were quite stunning under the black light. Despite the flashing lights and (interesting) singing, everyone bowled well on the GSLIS-West team. We all had a great time! Thank you to all who participated and a special thank you to Mike Mannheim for taking these photographs. Next GSLIS-West will be taking on GSLIS-Boston in a bowling showdown.
