Rural Libraries In Latin America: Literacy Development and Cultural Preservation

On November 19th, 2009 the Modern Languages department at Simmons College sponsored a bilingual (English-Spanish) talk with Luis Cháves, founder of La Casa de Colibrí in Chirimoto, Perú; and Caitlin Rolston, international literacy activist. Together they recounted their experiences working on the Hummingbird House library in Chirimoto. Caitlin also shared her experiences working in libraries in El Salvador and Nicaragua.
