News: Graduate Symposium Panel Reports

On April 21, 2012 SCoSAA, along with SLA, hosted Simmons College first Graduate Symposium. This one-day event featured presentations from GSLIS students on their recent research. The variety of papers and topics demonstrated how GSLIS students plan to contribute to their respective fields once they graduate. All of these lively presentations sparked a fruitful conversation on the future of archives and archival practices. Event: SCoSAA End-of-the-Year Celebration (May 11)

WHEN: May 11, 2012, 5:30pm to 7:30pm
WHERE: Russell House Tavern at 14 JFK Street Cambridge, MA 02138

SCoSAA is hosting a Happy Hour to celebrate the end of the semester, graduation, and the beginning summer on May 11, 2012 from 5:30-7:30pm. Join us at the Russell House Tavern in Cambridge for some appetizers and drinks. Appetizers are on us! There is a bar on both floors, so please check both levels to see where we are. We will pick the spot with the most spaces. All GSLIS students are welcome! News: Elimination of Canada’s National Archival Development Program

On April 30, 2012 Library and Archives Canada (LAC) eliminated the National Archival Development Program (NADP), a $1.7 million contribution program administered by the not-for-profit Canadian Council of Archives (CCA) and distributed to Canada’s 13 archives councils to support archival activities locally. Through the councils, NADP funding is on the ground across the country ensuring that Canada’s documentary heritage is both preserved in local communities and made available to the broader researching public.
