About YA or STFU

YA or STFU grew out of an assignment I regularly give the students in my young adult literature course. During the semester, each is required to read and write journal entries related to 15 young adult books of their choosing. To challenge myself (and in the spirit of healthy competition--I try to make sure I finish first), I participate in the assignment as well and publish my journal entries for the class to see. Fast forward six semesters, and I had accumulated a LOT of journal entries. I decided to edit them and put them together as a resource for students new to YA fiction as both an example of our journal writing assignment and as a bibliographic tool.
YA or STFU means "YA or Shut the Fuck Up," an obscene sentiment to some, but one that expresses my feeling about reading in general.
