About the Project
The Notable Women of Simmons project animates the lives of students from the College's early days by organizing, preserving, and faithfully reproducing their memorabilia. In particular, the scrapbook of Ruth Mitchell Wunderly reflects the gamut of college experience in the early twentieth century. The goals in presenting her mementos are to enrich the Simmons community's sense of heritage by:
In digitizing these resources, the collection supports the mission of the Archives to make available materials that reflect the history and development of the College. However, their availability in this format is meant to serve not only the Simmons community, but also a broader audience of students, educators, and other interested users. The individual collections within the Notable Women Series are class projects of LIS 462, Digital Libraries, taught by Professor Candy Schwartz. Thus, in addition to preserving the Ruth Mitchell Wunderly Scrapbook, the collection also provides a snapshot of its own evolution.
