  • Sign up for SLA Day on the Job

Are you interested in learning more about special libraries? Please consider participating in this year's SLA Boston Student Day on the Job event. Think of it as a one-day internship, or perhaps as a chance to visit a new type of library or information center before you decide where you want to work after graduation. Even if you are planning on pursuing a career outside of special libraries, why not take advantage of this great opportunity to compare and contrast the environments?

Please sign up by February 16, 2007 at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=3D543363187141

Hello everyone,

It is time, once again, for a brief update about what is going on with your local SLA student chapter. There are several things that you should take note of.

The first is that we are starting a wiki, which can be found at http://gslis.simmons.edu/mw/SLA

Secondly, the first of the seasons library tours is taking place this coming Friday, Friday, September 29, 2006, 10:00 a.m. The tour is of the Congregational Library, information about which can be found at http://www.14beacon.org/ A group of students will be meeting in the GSLIS lounge at 9:15 to take the T. Please join us!

Next, keep your eyes out for information about the "Cool Tools" panel which is set for Tuesday October 17. We have a great set of panelists organized for you. There is also some information available on the main page of the wiki.

Last, there are four jobs attached to this e-mail. More can be found behind the water fountains on the second floor of the palace road building or at http://units.sla.org/chapter/cbos/jobs.htm

Speaking of SLA Boston, they are arranging the Basketball Hall of Fame Event. Please let me know if there is any interest and we will try and set up a group to go! It will take place Saturday, October 21, 2006 and is in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Springfield, MA. For more information, please visit http://units.sla.org/chapter/cbos/

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best of luck with the coming week!

Brittany
