Founded June 11, 1993, the Legal Division of the SLA serves as a forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and knowledge among law and regulatory affairs librarians. We address concerns unique to librarians practicing in private law firms, businesses, and government libraries. Our Web site exists to assist us in communicating our ideals and goals.
The American Association of Law Libraries was founded in 1906 to promote and enhance the value of law libraries to the legal and public communities, to foster the profession of law librarianship, and to provide leadership in the field of legal information.
Education for a career in Law Librarianship
The Law and Political Science Section (LPSS) was formed in 1975 and is a section of the Association of College and Research Libraries, which is a division of the American Library Association. The purpose of LPSS is to serve as an educational forum and information exchange for librarians with an interest or subject expertise in law or political science.
