  • Tour of Boston Anathenaeum and Congregational Library (on Beacon Hill)( posted by Helen 10/08)
  • Tour of Harvard Biz Library (posted by Helen 10/08)
  • Tour of Levanthal Map Library (Boston Public Library)(posted by Helen 10/08)
  • Social Law Library
  • Art Libraries Skill Share (from last year?):
Liaise with Panopticon about an art-related skill share.
This org is "dedicated to helping teachers around the world lead their students in a critical examination of history, with particular focus on genocide and mass violence." They offer "professional development services; curricular resources; and ongoing support to educators and students in the areas of history, social studies, and language arts."
They were advertising for Librarian and Library Assistant positions last year. I called "Facing History" last fall and spoke to Eva Radding, one of the librarians there. It turns out she is a GSLIS grad (Simmons '06) and has been working at "Facing History" since she graduated. She said she'd be happy to host a tour for SLA student chapter in spring, as they were in the process of moving the library (to a new area in the same office facility) last year. She said to contact her again by email (eva_radding@facing.org) or phone (617-232-1595) in February.

Setting up meetings:

1. Please Post your best day for a meeting, check back here to see what everyone's else is.

Let's try to maximize our scheduling energies as much as possible. Can I suggest that we schedule the dates for all meetings now, just to get them on the calendar. It's my experience that having these dates on the calendar facilitates it actually happening. People will schedule the dates in, and we can get the rooms booked in advance to avoid the last minute shuffle with other LISSA orgs. We can always adjust later, and we wouldn't be any worse off. -Helen

  • Officers' Meetings -- Please indicate the days/dates when you are available to meet:
Monday : evening (Allison, );
Tuesday : evening (Helen);
Wednesday evening (Helen, Allison);
Thursday evening (Helen, Allison);
Weekends? Also possible for me(Helen); ok, but I prefer weekdays (Allison)
Other suggestions?

2. Please come up with an event idea, and make it your own. Do a quick run by of the group, but other then that plan it, assign jobs and all run it with it. -Maureen

3. Brief write-ups of General Meeting and the Officers' Meetings in Event and E-mail archive.
