Hotel & Airfare

Know of any tips or deals?

(Karen V.) Jet Blue (http://www.jetblue.com/) offers direct flights between Boston and Austin. And a lot of basic Austin travel facts can be found on Wiki Travel (http://wikitravel.org/en/Austin).

(Karie K.) I found an American Airlines flight for $250 through Yahoo! Travel (http://travel.yahoo.com/). It's not direct (connection in Dallas), but that's a good price.

(Ellen) Super 8, Austin Central (1 mile from the conference hotel) has rooms for ~$66/night

Bats

One free thing to do in Austin is watch the huge colony of 1.5 million bats fly out from under the Congress Avenue Bridge at sunset. It may be a little late in the year (they migrate to Mexico in November), but it's just a ten minute walk to the Hilton.

My favorite bat-watching spot north of Town Lake is the Patio of the Four Seasons (walking diretions). There's also the Austin Statesman Bat Observation Center on the other side of the bridge.
