GSLIS STUDENT CURRICULUM ADVISORY COMMITTEE

This Wiki will serve as an informal resource for communication and the sharing of ideas and resources for our committee.


The Committee was formed during the Fall 2006 semester; it is led by Associate Dean Pat Oyler and current members include:

Our Mission and Goals:

Our Mission is to assure student participation in the GSLIS curriculum evaluation and development process.


Our goals are:

  1. To be aware of and knowledgeable about faculty discussion and activities related to the GSLIS curriculum;
  2. To be aware of how curriculum-related decisions for the Simmons GSLIS program track or deviate from LIS curriculum development trends and employer expectations in the US and Canada;
  3. To share awareness and knowledge from a student perspective with the GSLIS student body;
  4. To solicit student input on ideas emanating from the Faculty Curriculum Committee (as well as ideas from other schools and other students);
  5. To develop and maintain a constructive and supportive advisory relationship with the Faculty Curriculum Committee.

These dates are for the Faculty Curriculum Committee meetings only, which take place on Wednesdays at 1:30 pm in the Palace Road Building. We are invited and encouraged to participate. WARNING!--these are not to be confused with our own student group meetings.
