Using PodOmatic to upload your podcast.
You will use PodOMatic to host the podcasts that you create for this class. PodOmatic is a free, or fee depending on how much space you need, for podcast hosting. You can upload the podcast file and write a blog entry about it. The following tells you how to do it. (BTW, this is the same space I used last semester so you could actually go to the URL of the class podcast page at PodOmatic and listen to some of the audio that previous student created.)
1) Go to http://www.podomatic.com/
2) In the top right click on the login link
3) Login with username: lis_460 and password: simmons_460
4) When you login you'll go to the administrative page for the podcast. On the right you'll see a button that says either "post your first episode" or "post episode." Click on that to start the process of uploading your podcast.
5) On the next screen you'll add a title, description, and tags for the podcast. Make sure that either in the title of your podcast or the description you include your name. That way we'll know who posted the podcast. You can also add an image, that image will be displayed with the info. about your podcast on the PodOmatic page. At the bottom of the screen you'll see a button for "import." Then click on the Browse button to browse your computer to find the MP3 file of your podcast. Click "OK" to select the file.
6) Click "Post Episode." It may take a few minutes to upload but Podomatic will let you know the progress, which is good.
7) After the file is uploaded there are two more screens that you can skip. (There is a "skip" link on both pages)
8) The podcast is then uploaded and you can go to the podcast page http://lis_460.podomatic.com/ to see your podcast listed.
One more thing, with a new podcast page for the class, that means there is a new feed URL in order to subscribe to the podcast. You can click on the iTunes link on the right of the page to subscribe in iTunes. There are other links too if you are using a service other than iTunes.
