This is my third semester at Simmons, if by at, we mean living in Western Mass and taking classes at Mount Holyoke. I have, at this point, technically never been to Simmons...

I have a B.A. in Literature from Bard College (class of 2004), a black cat named Azimuth, a shiny new MacBook Pro, and a compulsive media consumption habit. Usually I say I'm a compulsive reader, and judging by the stacks of books, comics and manga on my kitchen table, in my living room and beside my bed, this is quite true, but this marathon consumption extends easily to televison (especially now that I can download things from iTunes). I just started watching Heroes this week. I've watched 8 episodes in two days. As soon as I get my iPod fixed, my media consumption should cover music as well.

My genre of choice is fantasy (using fantasy as a blanket term that covers science fiction, fabulism, magical realism, etc), but it is my mission, and in part my practice, to (in the words of Shelley Quezada) "Read widely and deeply." So I read some of everything.

I am in the school library teacher program and for the past two years I was a part-time librarian in a small elementary school, an experience both enlightening and frustrating; but I feel my heart belongs to the public library setting. I currently work at the Jones Library in Amherst and (starting June 27) it's North Amherst Branch.
