About Me
My husband likes to call me a desert rat because I grew up in Tucson, Arizona and novel things like snow, green grass and four seasons still amaze me. I have early memories as a child of flying over lakes and being dumbfounded because the water was not instantly evaporating. I grew up in a hot, dry and brown place and boy do I miss it now! I got my B.A. in History with a Minor in Chinese Studies from the University of Arizona. After graduating, I worked in elementary school libraries for 3 years and loved it, but without a degree I couldn't advance. So my husband and I packed up our gear, drove almost 2,000 miles and found ourselves here in beautiful Boston, MA.
This is is a picture of my cats, Mus and Saki, who flew all the way from Tucson, AZ. They did NOT enjoy the trip.
Visit Tucson, AZ
If you are ever in Tucson, please make sure you visit the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. It's an amazing mix of zoo, botanical garden, and museum, but make sure you visit in winter or you might regret it!
To see one of the more creative ways that Tucsonans landscape, see Jacko'cactus. This is a prickly pear cactus that someone took the liberty of making more interesting. I saw it from the road and literally had to park, almost tresspass and snap this picture.
