Books
Like many people at GSLIS, I enjoy books. This year I set myself a goal of reading 50 books for fun, that is, outside of class. I'm on 47 or so, which is good since a full-time load of classes is going to slow me down this fall. I try to read books I "should" have read in school (even though I believe it is impossible to read everything everyone considers canonical, I still shame myself into trying). Here are some books I've read lately.
Right now I'm reading The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco. It's a great mystery, with fun characters, although they are medieval monks, so they tend to describe women as "sinks of vice." But if you can get past the misogyny, there is an awesome library in this book - I won't give it away, but hallucinogenic drugs are key.
