These are a few of my favorite books
- The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
- The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
- Pride and Prejudice (I keep hearing that liking Jane Austen is a requirement of librarianship. I guess I'm alright, then.)
- Cruddy by Lynda Barry
- If On A Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino
- A Trip to the Stars by Nicholas Christopher
- Orientalism by Edward Said
- House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski
- White Teeth by Zadie Smith
- Howard's End by E.M. Forster
- Against Love by Laura Kipnis
- City of Quartz by Mike Davis
- Harry Potter, of course
- Tess of the D'Urbervilles (I never thought I would like Thomas Hardy, but this book just moved me more than I ever expected."
- nearly anything by John Irving
- The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan
- Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond
- Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky
- History of Sexuality: Part One by Michel Foucault
This list could go on about forever, so I suppose now is a good enough time to stop. What are some of your favorites? I love suggestions.
I'm a devotee of Library Thing. I'm in the midst of adding all of the 500+ books I own to my online catalog. It's too neat for words.
