After three years working in the higher education publishing industry I came to realize that, despite thinking so for most of my life, publishing wasn't the side of the book industry I really wanted to be on. I still don't really know what hit me, but I was walking back from my lunch break one day and suddenly decided I wanted to go to library school. And now here I am, creating a wiki and anxiously awaiting my first day of classes.
I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in literature and women's studies in 2001. I've been living in Boston since 2003, and while I appreciate all that New England has to offer (well, almost all) I'm pretty well decided on moving back to California when I've finished my MLS.
This is what I would look like if Matt Groening drew me:
Some more interesting facts about me
- I love to read and am something of a book addict (you should see my apartment). I write about books and other information-related things in my life at Words For Nerds.
- Want to know what some of my favorite books are?
- I also love to cook, and I write about that at The Kitchen Illiterate.
- Homemade pizza is one of my specialties. I've been working on it for awhile and I love unusual flavor combinations. This recipe is the best I've found for a crust so far.
- I dream of getting my PhD in English someday, and am currently interested in the interections of food and gender in literature.
- I just started working part time at the Schlesinger Library. Their collections include archives of Women's History in the US, and a vast culinary collection. See how perfect this place is for me? I love it.
- I used to be way more into music than I am today. Is that just something that happens as you get older?
