New/Old GSLIS Student

I'm a New/Old GSLIS student. New to the program but Older than the average age of incoming students this Fall. I'm a first generation Cape Verdean American. Cape Cod born and bred or as people have told me in the past "Your from the Boondocks".

I work full time as a Serials Assistant in the Technical Services Department of the Frances Loeb Library. I finally after much thought and beating about the head by friends/managers/supervisors applied to Simmons last year and miraculously was accepted. Due to my workload I decided to take only one course per semester in order to not feel completely stressed. LOL!!! that hasn't worked out quite the way I thought as you'll see.

I was having a conversation with some friends after the first weeks of classes and doing assignments and said the following:

  • 1 "I believed myself to be a reasonably intelligent woman."
    • 1a "That reasonably intelligent woman took one look at the syllabus for 407 and ran. I have NO idea when she'll be back if ever."
  • 2 "My friends you told me to take 407 first to ease myself back into the learning process." (Note to self you have NO friends only enemies.)
  • 3 "What does organized mean? I used to know what that word meant."
  • 4 "How would you like to go to sleep then wake and realize the first and last thought in your head is MUST FINISH TOR!!!.
  • 5 "Those Red Sox better win the World Series. I don't need any more stress."

Red Sox

The Red Sox are a team that during the course of a season brings their fans to the highest mountain peaks of joy to the deepest, darkest, dankest pits of despair. Stress headaches, sore throats and sleepless nights are all part of being a Sox fan.

So before the first pitch is thrown on opening day buy the following:

  • Pain meds(I recommend Advil.)
  • Lozenges (Caused by screaming at the tv or at the game. YOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUK!!!!)
  • A fully loaded Dunkin Donuts card to buy coffee. (You'll need caffeine to get through the work/class day.)

Let the games begin!!!


WORLD CHAMPS 2007!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!


However I have other less stressful activities.
