Why I love trips to NYC
- Museums, museums, museums
- GREAT restaurants, even better cupcake shops
- Taking in a show (on or off Broadway) is a MUST
- I'm usually in the company of a good friend
Cupcakes or pastries anyone?
LOVE Magnolia Bakery cupcakes. But if you don't want to wait in those huge lines, check out Buttercup Bakeshop. One of the former owners from Magnolia started her own shop (Buttercup) and the treats are very similar/just as yummy (and less lines, though still busy). Check out this sample menu:
What's my favorite museum?
It's hard to pick a favorite. The Cloisters is always a fave, though a little out of the way (so I don't get to it often). A recent discovery was: The Morgan Library and Museum
A FANTASTIC collection of odds and ends. Egyptian art, renaissance paintings, illuminated manuscripts, books upon books upon books. And that's not even the best part. They have an eclectic collection of rare manuscripts and documents from original musicians, writers, thinkers. I was blown away by the scrap of paper, in Galileo's own hand, showing how he had charted the stars....
Great Modern Artist - Will Barnett
Favorite show?
A recent fave is The Drowsy Chaperone. If you like fun, old-fashioned musicals (that also make fun of the genre), this is for you. It was a blast to see...
