Analysis

Let's face it, taking care of teenagers (3) and a demonic labrador is intellectually stimulating in the "wrong" way. Daily and hourly challenges abound, but they frequently revolve around driving, grocery shopping and cleaning. Despite its ultimately fulfilling nature, parenting humans and canines is not the best use of previously existing bachelor's and master's degrees. This is why:

  • The dog never asks me about the causes of the Civil War.
  • The kids do ask about the causes of the Civil War, but only after 11:00 pm or when we are stuck at the Alewife traffic circle.
  • The dog and the kids frequently reenact their own civil war, but do not need outside expertise.
  • I'm frequently too tired to remember the causes of the Civil War.
