GSLIS in Nicaragua
From Simmons International Relations
The connection between Simmons and Nicaragua began in the Summer of 2005 when a small group of students and Assistant Dean Denise Davis traveled to the country to volunteer at a small library in San Juan del Sur, a small town on the strip of land bordered by the ocean, Lake Nicaragua, and the Costa Rican border. In 2006, two others in the GSLIS community joined Denise to continue the tradition: David Dwiggins and Victoria Walsh, students in the GSLIS program who also worked for the school in various capacities. The GSLIS connection to Nicaragua has grown stronger, and there has also been some collaboration with other groups at Simmons and with additional libraries and librarians in Nicaragua. It is our hope to build these efforts into a more formal partnership that will help develop library services in Nicaragua while providing valuable experience for Simmons students.

Nicaragua Video Project
SIR is collaborating on a project to develop a video about the SJDS Biblioteca Movil lending library project in Nicaragua. Project documentation can be found in the NicaVideo namespace on this wiki. To start, see the Project Overview page.
Some of the early video was edited together for a SIR event in late 2006. It is available online via Google Video.
