More Details about Volunteership at Southern African Wildlife College
From Simmons International Relations
From: Kathleen Hay <khay@sawc.org.za>
I am writing from the Southern African Wildlife College in South Africa. We are a small College situated within the Greater Kruger National Park and conduct training courses in Wildlife Management for conservation staff from Parks throughout Africa. We have a small library (Resource Centre) and we would like to offer a volunteer opportunity for a librarian to join the College for a period of a few months.
I would like to suggest two volunteerships, (February to June) or July to November.
The type of work that the volunteer would do would be as follows:
- Assisting students with accessing resources (issuing & returns etc)
- Cataloguing of resources
- Assist students with basic computer skills
- Assist with the College's environmental education projects in our nearby rural community schools
Although the scope of the work is in the Resource centre, we do try and ensure that our volunteers participate in game drives and excursions where there is an opportunity, as we are in a wildlife area.
The volunteer would be provided with meals and accommodation for the duration of the volunteership.
If anybody is interested, please contact me as soon as possible at khay@sawc.org.za
