The Opportunity
The Information Technology Librarian reports to the Supervisor, Technical Services, and supports library operations by maintaining library systems, incorporating new technologies and implementing innovative solutions that enhance learning and research. This position coordinates changes to the integrated library system, manages bibliographic record loads, coordinates database maintenance routines, engages in cooperative technology projects and serves Zayed University as an integral resource within the Library.
The Responsibilities
- Maintains library information technology programs using a broad range of software and hardware.
- Works collaboratively with library staff and other campus units to implement and support digital projects and services including the library Web site.
- Manages bibliographic data loads and database maintenance routines.
- Maintains database integrity, creates reports, and globally updates data in the library systems.
- Helps with troubleshooting hardware and software on both campuses.
- Trains staff on the use of technology, databases and library systems. May participate in information literacy programs.
- Recommends innovative initiatives to expand library services.
- Works with other technical services and systems librarians locally, in the region and internationally.
The Requirements
- Master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited program or its equivalent.
- Knowledge of current library information technologies.
- Knowledge of current library bibliographic standards and cataloging rules.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience working with Innovative Interfaces, Inc. desirable.
