Funding for Nicaragua Trip
One fellowship in the amount of $750 will be available to students participating in the January 2009 volunteer trip to Nicaragua.
Fellowship recipients will be required to contribute a minimum of four blog posts to the GSLIS Dispatches From the Field blog http://gslis.simmons.edu/blogs/dispatches/. If the winning student does not attend the January 2009 program, the award monies must be returned.
Application Procedure: Submit a current resume, unofficial transcript (print off AARC), and a 500-word essay to the GSLIS front desk (P-111) no later than November 10, 2008. The essay should explain how this experience will benefit you in your field of study and what you expect to gain personally from your time abroad.

Harold Lancour Scholarship for Foreign Study
This scholarship is awarded to librarians or library/information studies school students to survey foreign libraries or programs, attend a foreign library school, and/or to do research in a foreign country. No application form is required. Requirements for this scholarship include:
- Current vita.
- One or two page typed description of the planned foreign study with some indication of plans to use the information gained. Include any previous experience in foreign travel or study as well as any languages you can read or write.
Scholarship will be awarded on:
- Plan of study or research
- Usefulness of the study or research to the applicant and to the profession.
It is anticipated that recipients of this scholarship will submit a paper pertaining to their study to Beta Phi Mu within one year of completion of the study.

Rovelstad Scholarship in International Librarianship
A scholarship for a student of library and information science to attend the World Library and Information Congress of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)
IMLS Fellowship at Rutgers University
Rutgers School of Communication, Information and Library Studies invites applications for a fellowship for full time PhD study, funded by the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program. The award is part of a grant for "Building the Multicultural, Multilingual New Jersey Library Staff," and covers tuition, fees, and a graduate assistant stipend for fall 2007 through fall 2009. This allows completion of all the requirements except for the dissertation. This Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program grant was awarded through the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and is a joint initiative of the New Jersey State Library, Rutgers, Thomas Edison State College, Central Jersey Regional Library Cooperative, and the New Jersey Library Association. The application deadline is March 1.
Bogle Pratt International Library Travel Fund
The American Library Association offers the annual Bogle Pratt International Library Travel Fund. The fund is an award of $1, 000 given to an ALA personal member to attend their first international conference.

Rovelstad Scholarship in International Librarianship, 2008
The Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) offers a scholarship for a student of library and information science to attend the World Library and Information Congress of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).

Fulbright Border Program
The sponsor provides support for lecturing, lecturing/research or research awards in the Mexican Border Program. Awards are tenable at universities or research institutions in any of the Mexican states on the border with the United States. Candidates must be from U.S. institutions located along the Mexican border. Preference is for candidates with a Ph.D. but in certain fields equivalent terminal degrees will be considered. Fluent Spanish is required. Grants are three to nine months in duration.
