World Heritage Memory Net: World Culture and Heritage at Your Finger-tips

On April 17th, 2009, Dr. Ching-chih Chen gave the Annual Speech at the Simmons Beta Phi Mu Annual Meeting at Simmons College in Boston, demoing her World Heritage Memory Net Project for the audience. Professor Chen is author and editor of 35 books and more than 200 articles in the areas of information technology, management, and global digital libraries. She’s received countless awards, including the 2008 American Library Association Beta Phi Mu Award.

2009 MSLA Conference - Technology in School Libraries Today

On March 28th, 2009 the Massachusetts School Library Association held their annual conference at Simmons College in Boston. Valerie Diggs gave a presentation about the unique challenges of social networking technology in school libraries. She is the Dept Head of School Libraries for Chelmsford Public Schools, and most recently completed the transformation of the Chelmsford High School Library to a true Learning Commons Space.

Podcasting as a Tool in Education

On March 24th, 2009 the Pottruck Technology Resource Center sponsored a Faculty Luncheon on podcasting. Sarah Volkman, a professor in the School for Health Studies in the Nursing Department, spoke about her experiences using podcasting from a teaching perspective. And Linnea Johnson, Assistant Manager of GSLIS Technology, gave an overview of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science’s podcasting program: GSLIScast.
