Outreach to Spanish Speakers, Part 1

On December 6, 2007, Shelley Quezada and Hagar Shirman led a workshop designed to equip library staff with the knowledge and resources to provide outreach services to Spanish speakers in their communities. The workshop was originally developed by WebJunction with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Simmons College presentation was sponsored by the Simmons College Chapter of the Progressive Librarians Guild.

This podcast episode includes the first half of the workshop, which focused on making the case for services to the Spanish-speaking community, along with discussions of culture and diversity and the community leader interview process. The material covered in this segment corresponds to slides 1 to 31 in the accompanying slide presentation.
