A Career in Library and Information Science: Strategies, Choices and Insights featuring Kathy Coolidge
Kathy Coolidge ’04 is the law librarian at Bulkley, Richardson & Gelinas, LLP. She manages all aspects of library operations, conducts legal research, and provides information services as requested by the firm’s 43 attorneys, 7 paralegals, and other staff in two offices. Prior to joining Bulkley, Richardson & Gelinas in December 2002, Kathy was associated for seventeen years with the law firm of Michael D. Parker, Esq. in Springfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from Carleton College in 1977, and from Western New England College School of Law in 1984. She has been admitted to the Massachusetts bar since January 1985. She is a member of the Simmons Chapter of Beta Phi Mu, and served as the treasurer for the Legal Division of SLA from 2005-07 and as the president-elect for the Connecticut Valley Chapter of SLA during its merger with the Boston Chapter. She currently serves on the Boston Chapter Board as the program planner for the Connecticut Valley Region and on the Finance Committee of SLA. Kathy has had articles published in Law Library Journal, AALL Spectrum, and other professional association newsletters. She contributed a chapter on solo law librarianship to A Day in the Life: Career Options in Library and Information Science edited by P. Schontz and R. Murray, Libraries Unlimited, 2007.
