For Spring 2010 Students, the TOR is due March 1st.
- VPN/Connecting Remotely
- As mentioned in the previous section, you can access your Y: drive from off campus by using the Simmons VPN.
Using the Simmons VPN
VPN is short for Virtual Private Network. Essentially, it is a means of making a secure, remote connection to a network via the internet. Simmons uses VPN to allow you to access your network folder (Y: drive on campus) from home.

Connecting to your network folder remotely
- Go to http://remote.simmons.edu
- Log in with your Simmons username and password
- Access your folder by entering \\mcbfs1\student\username in "Browse Network", then hit Go
You should then be connected to your network folder, and able to see any subfolders and files you have stored there. You can select any name to open its folder or file. When selecting files, you must either download or open them on your local computer to work on or read them. If you make changes to a file, remember to upload the newest version to the server when you are done.
- To copy files from your local computer to your network folder, select Copy File to Server
- Select Browse and the file you wish to move. Select Open, which will automatically put the document path on the "Local File to Use" field and the file name in the "Name After Copy" field
- Click Copy and you will be taken back to your network folder, where you should see the new file listed
- To delete a file, select the checkbox beside the file, click Delete at the top of the screen, then select Yes to confirm delete
