- Requirements for your HTML Page
- This section will review the best practices to use for managing your files. It covers naming, saving and organizing files on your computer.
HTML Page Requirements
At the end of this section, you will create a very basic page to "get your feet wet." Feel free to be as creative with the content as you like, but just remember that the most important part is familiarizing yourself with the process in a hands-on way. In other words, don't get so wrapped up in creating in-depth content that you aren't able to focus on the HTML surrounding it.
While the content is up to you, your web page must include the following elements:
- Page title
- 2 section headings
- A paragraph of text
- A bold or italic phrase
- A list with at least 3 items
- An image
- A hyperlink to a PDF file you have created
- A hyperlink to another web page
Here is an example of a page with all of those elements:
Get Some Background
In an attempt to accommodate different learning styles, here are some options to get up to speed on these topics. If your last job title was Webmaster, you can probably go straight to the assignment. If you have partial knowledge of these topics or if this is all new to you, it is highly recommended that you work through one of the online tutorials listed below and/or attend one of the Part 3 workshops that will be offered during the semester (see http://gslis.simmons.edu/signup for available sessions). The more you learn now, the better prepared you will be for your courses and the job market beyond.
