  • Choosing LCSH, TGM, etc.

Descriptive Metadata Committee Meeting Minutes - 29 Sept., 2009

Business

  • divvied up folders among us: KD (5,6,13); JR (1-4); OG (7,8,10); MB (9, 11, 12)
  • gave ourselves deadline of October 9 to post lists of terms for inclusion in Dublin Core elements
  • will post our rough list of our terms to the wiki: will refine, eliminate, find proper TGM terms
  • Final step will be to write directions with appropriate terms (and/or how to record terms) for students to use, within our DC elements.

[edit] White Papers

  • Subject access/controlled vocabulary
    • A link to the TGM vocabulary.
    • I wrote a description of TGM, based on the LC TGM site and on Ben Florin's report. TGM may be easier/more manageable than LCSH, in part because it's much smaller; in part because it tells you what category to put terms in (subject or format). Let's talk about it! Katharine's TGM description
