Running for:

[edit] Secretary

[edit] Abigail Sweeney

Hi my name is Abi Sweeney and I am running for the second secretarial position for LISSA.

I am in my second to last semester, but am looking to involve myself more fully in the GSLIS community. I currently work at the nearby Massachusetts College of Art in the library, and am the minutes recorder for all staff meetings. I am also part of the Panopticon group. I would like to be able to encourage other students, especially new ones, to utilize the connections and opportunities offered to us. As someone who lives and works in the near vicinity to Simmons, I can be available at fairly short notice for any issues that may arise. I am fully capable of executing all of the secretarial duties required of me and am excited to be considered for a part of the LISSA group.

Thank you.

Running for:

[edit] Student Faculty Representative

[edit] Helen Boos

Greetings GSLIS students, I hope you'll consider me for the position of student representative on the curriculum advisory committee. I am an excellent choice for this position for 3 reasons: 1. Having finished three-quarters of the GSLIS program, I have a solid grasp on the details of the curriculum and individual courses. 2. I also have a number of years working in libraries and am familiar with what is required of librarians in the real world. 3. Finally, after taking so many GSLIS courses, interacting with classmates and participating in student organizations, I am well aware of the concerns of my fellow students. I would be honored if you would select me to represent student perspective on curriculum issues. Vote for me for student rep! And thank you for your consideration!

[edit] Shanti Freundlich

Hi I’m Shanti Freundlich, I am a career changer and brand new to Library & Information Science. I am transitioning from theatrical production (hanging lights, climbing on scaffolding, making fog effects, things like that) to an archives concentration, so this is a huge career change for me. I already really enjoy being part of GSLIS, and I am excited about the program and my new career possibilities. I plan to be an active part of the GSLIS student community, and I think that being a Student-Faculty Representative would be a wonderful way to both be an active member of the academic community and get to know my fellow librarians- and archivists-in-training. I bring strong teamwork and communication skills as well as a great deal of enthusiasm and curiosity, and would be a good fit for this position.

[edit] Molly Caple

I am interested in becoming more involved in the GSLIS community, and forming stronger relationships with my professors. Attending the faculty meetings will give me an opportunity to see another side of the program.
