LISSA Officers Meeting 7/7/07
From lissa
Cheryl, Sean, Ann and Wendy attending, with Cheryl--LISSA President--presiding.
Live Chat for incoming fall students
- we discussed the need to find a product to use
- we should then create time slots for different days of the week--there will be two officers present in each time slot for incoming students to ask questions of
- it was also suggested that we could open this up to the GSLIS student body to see if anyone is interested in being an "expert" in the chat room to help out incoming students
- the major issue with finding a product is to make sure that it doesn't require a download
- Sean will talk to Technology and David Dwiggins to see if either has any ideas. Ann will check out Google chat to see what kind of capabilities it has.
Cheryl is posting GSLIS Career Preparation Session flyers
The Recognition Ceremony for summer graduates is fast approaching!
- July 29th
- we need to cover invitations and catering
- we also need to contact alumni and perhaps get a guest speaker
- Cheryl is meeting with Alisa and Em Claire to clear up some issues and will inform the rest of the officers by email of tasks that need to be completed
End of the Semester Party
- Sean suggested having it at Thornton's Fenway Grille again--everyone thought that was a fine idea
- other places in this neighborhood were also brought up to check out for future parties: Squealing Pig, Mission Grill, Basement Baseball Tavern
- all agreed that Thursdays seem to work out better for parties--August 2nd will be it for this semester
- the only downfall to Thornton's is the lack of a separate space, but we agreed that for the summer semester the party will likely be smaller and this shouldn't be an issue for now
Course Evaluation binders
Sean needs help!
- he will be creating a binder for the 500s, omitting all 500 classes that have not been taught in the last three semesters
- Sean suggested everyone getting together to help out with this part of the project--he will email details later
- Sean also printed up a course catalogue to go with the Evaluation binders so students can have that to cross-reference course numbers with course names
