What is LISSA?
LISSA (Library and Information Science Student Association) exists to represent and support all students in the GSLIS program. Each active GSLIS student is automatically a member of LISSA. All may attend meetings, choose to run for office and/or participate in LISSA sponsored events. Elections are held regularly.

What is LISSA doing for me?
- LISSA works with other student groups (ALA Student Chapter, ASIST, SCoSAA, MSLA-SIG, SLA Student Chapter, Panopticon and the PLG Student Chapter)
- hosts End of Semester parties
- handles class evaluations and maintains the Evaluations website - https://gslis.simmons.edu/evaluations.
- provides coffee, tea, chocolate and spring water to the Matarazzo Student Lounge (P-212G)
- voices our concerns to the faculty and administration through the President and Faculty Representatives
- reimburses students up to $300 per year toward the cost of attending library-oriented workshops and conferences
- plans tours and field trips and invites guest speakers

Proposed Amendment to the LISSA Constitution, Feb 2010
- NEW! We would like to create a new officer position for LISSA and simultaneously join forces with a great existing org (SCAC). Take a look at the proposed amendment, and join us on Wednesday February 17th from 5-6pm in the student lounge to discuss. Online voting will take place after the meeting. NEW!
