LISSA (Library and Information Science Student Association) exists to represent and support all students in the GSLIS program. Each active GSLIS student is automatically a member of LISSA. All may attend meetings, choose to run for office and/or participate in LISSA sponsored events. Elections are held regularly.

[edit] What can LISSA do for me?

  • LISSA works with other student groups (ALA Student Chapter, ASIST, SCoSAA, MSLA-SIG, SLA Student Chapter, Panopticon and the PLG Student Chapter)
  • plans tours and field trips and invites guest speakers
  • hosts End of Semester parties
  • supports Graduate Recognition Ceremonies (for Summer and Winter semesters)
  • handles class evaluations and maintains the Evaluations website - http://gslis.simmons.edu/evaluations.
  • provides coffee, tea, chocolate and spring water to the Matarazzo Student Lounge (P-212G)
  • voices our concerns to the faculty and administration through the President and Faculty Representatives
  • reimburses students up to $300 per year toward the cost of attending library-oriented workshops and conferences
